Description
The 'MT Deerhound' is a Dog-class tug, built in 1966 by Appledore Shipbuilders of North Devon for the Royal Maritime Auxiliary Service. Following 30 years loyal service, she was later sold to Babcock for the support of the Rosyth Royal Dockyard, before transfer to private hands in 2019.
With a bollard pull of 17 tonnes, 'The Mighty Deerhound' is capable of towing most vessels. Although no longer coded, the owner reports her systems and powerful twin Lister Blackstone engines are in good working order and capable of further service as a commercial vessel.
With much of her original joinery still intact, 'Deerhound' showcases the glory years of British Shipbuilding and with a little imagination could therefore be repurposed as a floating home if desired.
